turns out the plot actually was “bride asks her two Commitmentphobic ™ brothers to get dates for her wedding” which, lame
I like my idea, where two gay dudes and two lesbians have to pretend to be straight for an entire weekend
“I can definitely pretend to be straight,” Lesbian One says, “I successfully pretended to be a straight man for twenty years.”
“No,” her girlfriend Lesbian Two says, “no you definitely didn’t.”
Lesbian Two, who is butch, discovers an eyelash curler. “What is this, a torture device?”
Gay Guy One hooks up with the DJ, the wedding planner, three caterers and the best man. Shenanigans happen as he narrowly avoids getting caught by the bride.
Gay Guy Two, of course, finds himself falling hopelessly in love with the groom.
At the climax of the movie Gay Guy One falls out of the closet where he’s making out with his latest conquest, the florist. The bride screams, eyeliner smearing from tears, about how he’s RUINING HER WEDDING and she didn’t choose to have a brother who was QUEER and why didn’t he ever think about HER and why couldn’t he just pretend to be NORMAL for her SPECIAL DAY–
and then the wedding is called off and Gay Guy Two and the groom live happily ever after. the after-credits scene is Lesbian Two suspiciously poking her eyelids with an eyelash curler
I suspect a lot of people here read stories on Wattpad.
Dreame is similar in concept.
BUT.
Dreame has been attempting to headhunt writers from Wattpad. Sounds good, right?
Nope.
One writer was offered a $60 advance…to sign over the RIGHTS to his book. They’ll license the print book rights back for 30%.
Please do not sign with these people as a writer.
And please do not give them money as a reader…they are either a scam or just completely clueless. Either way, you’re better off sticking to Wattpad and tracking down writers you think deserve money to pay them directly ;).
Dreame also tried this on AO3. They got an account, posted what looked perfunctorily like a fanfic but was actually a recruitment pitch, and then ran around on high-volume fanfics making comments asking writers to join up and directing them to their recruitment post, in violation of AO3’s TOS. I had a comment from them and AO3 took down the post after I reported it.
Although I will say if you check out their site there’s some real fun badfic reading amongst their paid authors.

In the wild capybaras live in large groups so naturally a female capybara will take care of not only her own offspring, but all of the other offspring in the group. So capybaras are super great mothers who will adopt pretty much anything and take care of it.
Lots of places that rescue different animals will give a group of baby animals to a capybara to raise if they have one.

Emus
They are just super calm animals so they’re naturally great at mothering or just existing in a group!

the government shutdown has had a huge impact on native people, who receive funding for things like child welfare, food pantries, and healthcare through indian health services through federal funding. keep in mind this funding was prepaid for through treaties in exchange for our land - land that our congress who has put our people through this financial hardship is living on. if you have the money to spare, consider donating to local native tribes.
this map can show what nations’ land you are on, or you can google “local native american tribes near [city, state]”. some reservations have links right on their website about how to donate either electronically or by mail. other nations, such as the pawnee nation in OK, have set up a gofundme for native families affected by the shutdown.
